Getting to Lourdes
Lourdes is well served and the town is easily accessible by car or coach.
From Tarbes to Lourdes, follow route N.21Once in Lourdes, follow “Centre ville” then “La Grotte” directions. According to the direction of traffic, take Boulevard de la Grotte (then Boulevard Père Rémy Sempé) or Rue de la Grotte (traffic direction changes on the 1st and 16th of every month).
From Pau to Lourdes, follow the A.64 motorway in direction of Tarbesfrom Tarbes to Lourdes, follow route N.21. Once in Lourdes, follow “Centre ville” then “La Grotte” directions. Getting to Lourdes by train
Thousands of pilgrims choose to come to Lourdes by train with entire pilgrimages arriving at the station from many different towns. The high-speed train (TGV) from Paris to Lourdes (5 ½ hour trip) ensures four connections every day and two night trains. There are direct train connections from: Bordeaux / Toulouse / Montpellier / Marseille / Nice / Lyon / Ventimiglia/ Geneva / Irun.
A bus company runs a shuttle service from the station in Lourdes to the Grotto (Saint Joseph’s gate) Every 15 minutes: CITY BUS (blue bus), take line 1 or 2 (from Palm Sunday to 31st October). Getting out and about in Lourdes
The two main routes that lead to the Shrines are one-way roads, and the direction of traffic changes every 15 days.From the town centre, from the 1st to the 15th of the month, you must take Rue de la Grotte.From the 16thto the 30th/31st of the month on the other hand, you must take Boulevard de la Grotte, then Boulevard Rémy Sempé to get to Saint Joseph’s gate (unless changes are made owing to construction work or some other reason).
Check with your hotel before coming to find out about the direction of traffic on your day of arrival.
Angelic’s hotel is very close to the Shrines and you can easily undertake most visits on foot. The town centre is also easily accessible, and takes approximately 10 minutes.

With the little tourist train Departure every 20 minutes, every day from Easter to October, from 9 am to 11.30 am and from 1.30 pm to 6.15 pm. Late-night from 8 pm from May to end of September. Train departs from Place Monseigneur Laurence. The 45-minute trip to discover the Marian city is sure to delight young and old alike.
